To minimize the risks of Covid-19 contamination in São Salvador Alimentos facilities, a disinfection protocol for all environments in which employees and service providers work or circulate was adopted, as well as an increase in hygiene points. For example, hand-washing stations were installed at the production entrance, and 70% alcohol gel dispensers were placed in all areas where people circulate.
These actions are part of the SSA’s Covid-19 Contingency Plan, which has over 90 prevention measures. All circulation spaces, such as external sidewalks, internal corridors, as well as handrails and doorknobs, undergo frequent disinfection procedures with products that completely eliminate the virus. The cleaning team is also instructed to daily disinfect all furniture, especially surfaces that have the most contact with employees’ hands.
There is a special concern with vehicles that come from outside to pick up or deliver goods. All containers are disinfected in internal and external car washes, as well as service providers’ truck cabins. Parking lots also undergo daily sanitation processes.
Another recommendation from the Specialized Service in Safety Engineering and Occupational Medicine (SESMT), responsible for the Covid-19 combat protocol, is that windows remain open whenever possible, aiming at air renewal. In places without natural ventilation, such as in production, new exhaust fans have been installed to provide a faster exchange of air. Bactericides are also being applied to air conditioning filters to help eliminate the virus.
