Sales of São Salvador Alimentos (SSA), the company behind the SuperFrango and Boua brands, grew 35% in 2019. Gross revenue increased from R$1.249 billion in 2018 to R$1.687 billion. In terms of weight of goods sold, growth was 10%. The industry’s sales growth was double that of the sector in the state of Goiás and Brazil as a whole. According to data from the Ministry of Agriculture, Gross Value of Production (GVP) for poultry farming increased by 18.5% in the state last year compared to 2018, reaching R$4.5 billion. In Brazil, this growth was 14.1%, reaching R$65.3 billion in 2019.

One of the main factors behind SSA’s production and sales growth was the increase in exports, which were 66% higher in 2019, rising from R$317.3 million to R$529.2 million. In terms of weight of goods sold, the company’s export growth was 37.4%, to 59.5 thousand tonnes. Last year, exports accounted for 31% of SSA’s gross revenue, with the company exporting to over 65 countries. In 2019, they began selling to the markets of Russia, Mexico, Scotland, and South Korea. The industry in Goiás is authorized by federal and international bodies to export its products to more than 150 countries.

Over the past decade, São Salvador Alimentos has invested approximately R$1 billion to establish itself as one of the largest food industries in the Brazilian Midwest. Based in Itaberaí (GO), it is one of the largest animal protein producers in Brazil, with the SuperFrango brand specializing in frozen and chilled chicken, as well as chicken products such as sausages, breaded chicken, and other industrialized products. The Boua brand sells a wide range of high-value-added products, such as creamy ricotta cheese, mozzarella, ham, spicy sausage, tilapia fillets, frozen vegetables, and more.

The company employs over 7.5 thousand people, including direct employees and contractors. “For SSA, this growth in production and sales is a direct result of our policy of believing in the potential of our business and employees, even in difficult times. It also shows that we are on the right track, always working with ethics, responsibility, and guided by principles of environmental sustainability,” said SSA’s Administrative and Financial Director, Hugo Garrote.
