São Salvador Alimentos, a Goiás-based company that produces the SuperFrango and Boua brands, launched the campaign “Doing Good is Essential” with a series of collaborative and social actions. These include the production of over 55,000 protective masks, the donation of 9 tons of food, the transfer of R$ 300,000 to purchase hospital equipment for the public health network, and the creation of a digital platform to value human relations and solidarity in the face of the Covid-19 pandemic.

In partnership with the municipality of Itaberaí and the clothing manufacturers Camisaria Executiva and MM Confecção, SSA produced 55,000 fabric protective masks for free distribution to the entire population of the region, especially the most vulnerable. The food industry purchased the material, and the clothing manufacturers volunteered to produce the masks at no cost to the municipality for distribution. Part of the material will also be allocated to the company’s nearly 8,000 employees in factories located in Itaberaí and Nova Veneza.

“Our first concern is to ensure the food supply for the population. That’s why we’ve increased production at our factories, always with great caution and expanding our sanitary safety measures. But we want to collaborate more with our community, especially those who need help the most and have few resources,” says SSA’s Administrative and Financial Director, Hugo Garrote. The municipality is involved in the action, mobilizing seamstresses from Itaberaí for voluntary work and donating part of the fabric.

The company has already donated nearly R$ 300,000 to equip public health network hospitals. One of them is the Municipal Hospital of Itaberaí. With the resources, according to Municipal Secretary Kélia Rosa Assunção, it will be possible to furnish and equip 18 nursing beds in the municipal hospital, in addition to the nursing station and the medical prescription station. “Without the donations, it would take us even longer to provide quality and comfortable care to our population,” says the secretary.

SSA has already donated over 9 tons of food to philanthropic organizations and fundraising campaigns of entities such as the Federation of Industries of the State of Goiás (Fieg), in addition to contributing to fundraising campaigns promoted by artists. In the “Live dos Amigos,” held by Villa Mix on the night of April 20th with country music stars Leonardo, Zezé di Camargo and Luciano, and Chitãozinho and Xororó, the company donated 5 tons of chicken.

In the digital realm, SSA has created an online platform for sharing healthy and economical recipes for people to prepare at home with their families. Initially, there are 40 dishes available on the website www.receitasessenciais.com.br and also on the social media of the brands produced by the company. New recipes will be added throughout the campaign. The action will also promote the connection between consumers and local food small businesses, such as suppliers of packed lunches, to stimulate business and income generation.

“We are living in a unique moment in the history of humanity, and companies, more than ever, must assume the social role of contributing to the communities in which they operate, offering not only quality products but also services and assistance to the most in need,” says Hugo Garrote. “At SSA, we already have this culture of promoting services, but the ‘Doing Good is Essential’ campaign represents one more step in the purpose of being useful to people and promoting the well-being of Brazilian families. It is time to create bridges to overcome this great challenge together,” he concludes.
