Hundreds of suppliers settled in the Goiás municipality to serve the company. The production chain also expanded. 814 broiler chicken and breeding aviaries were installed in 34 municipalities in this region of the state, in addition to promoting the production of corn and soybeans to supply the feed factory. Itaberaí is now the 27th richest municipality in the state.

History

SSA was born from the entrepreneurship of Carlos Vieira and José Garrote who, in 1973, built the first broiler chicken aviary in Itaberaí. In 1981, they established Avícola São Salvador. Ten years later, they founded the São Salvador Slaughterhouse, with the slaughter of 2.5 thousand birds/day and 70 direct jobs. Over the years, the company has grown, increased its production capacity, launched new products, ensured greater added value to its production and conquered more markets in Brazil and abroad. In 2018, the company slaughtered 330 thousand birds every day, with a 20% growth over the previous year. With new investments, production is expected to jump in the next two years to 520 thousand birds per day.

“The company’s goal is always to maintain productive growth, sales and job and income generation and thus position itself as one of the largest agribusiness companies in Brazil”, says director Hugo Garrote.
